We’re proud to announce that The Modern Estate has just won its 2nd consecutive national award for editorial excellence! This year’s FOLIO: Awards, the largest annual awards competition in magazine publishing, attracted 3,000 entries. TME’s Winter ’08 article (see cover above), “Wild Thing,” by Richard Friswell, showcasing the extraordinary equestrian photography of Roberto Dutesco, garnered our second consecutive accolade in the Best Feature Article in a Shelter Magazine (regional or national) category. For its spring issue, The Modern Estate magazine ran a cover story on the Glass House. Before long, the magazine’s readers will get a better peek at the products it features in its pages. The Greenwich startup is finalizing plans for a new headquarters that will double as a product showroom a concept it plans to expand nationally as it couples new showrooms with market-specific editions in various enclaves.

The magazine covers the luxury home market of New York City and its surrounding affluent communities, and their readership is split equally between home owners and tradespeople (builders, designers, architects, etc.). She campaigned against other regional—and more established—publications and eventually won first exclusive regional rights to the story.

Independently-published start-up The Modern Estate has garnered a significant amount of attention in its one year of existence, including from triple-Emmy winning producers who worked on Martha Stewart’s TV show. The magazine’s founder, publisher, and editor Linda Donnelly says she’s been in weekly meetings with these producers since they approached her about creating a pilot, called “The Modern Estate,” of which she’ll be the star.

This exclusive magazine targets the highest end luxury home owners in Fairfield and Westchester Counties, as well as top architects, interior designers and builders. The magazine is truly unique in terms of its distribution, editorial content and appeal. Estate owners must choose landscape designers, mechanical and security systems, design elements, technology, etc., and choosing unwisely can prove expensive, even disastrous, for their dream home.
